COMMISSIONER FOR WOMEN AFFAIRS, CHARGES GIRL CHILD TO MAKE GOOD DECISIONS TO ENSURE A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE.
The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare Dr. Ini Adiakpan has charged girl children to make good decisions for a better future as decisions the make today can either make or mar their future.
The comissioner gave the charge at the sensitization programme for teenage girls in secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State with the theme “Girls, Uphold Your Dignity” hosted by the wife of the State Governor, Dr. Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel.
The event which was organized by her non governmental platform, Family Empowerment and Youth Re-orientation Path- initiative FEYReP was a 1-Day awareness campaign for teenage girls, held today at Ibom Hall, IBB Way, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Dr. Adiakpan advised that every knowledge that is being shared by the resource persons should be put to use as knowledge learnt and not used is pointless.
In her words “the primary reason your parents sent you to school is to learn and study and as such Learning should be your guiding principles.”
The Honourable Commissioner thanked the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel for putting up such platform to educate the girl child on upholding their dignity.
Dr. Adiakpan stated that the first lady is a notable role model, worthy of emulation by the women and girls in Akwa Ibom State.
She also appreciated the gender friendly Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for his interest in the welfare of Akwa Ibom children.
The Commissioner mentioned that the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare is solidly behind the girl child and urged them to freely report any form of abuse or rape to the Ministry.
She urged the teachers to spread the message to other children in their respective schools.
