GOV EMMANUEL PLAYS HOST TO FMR PRESIDENT JONATHAN, ORS AT N.E.S CONFERENCE
The State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, is about now, playing host to the former President of the Country; Dr Goodluck Jonathan, Wife, Patience Jonathan and other distinguished members of Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) who are currently converging on the Ibom Icon Hotel, for their 30th National Conference and Annual General Meeting.
The theme of the 3-day conference is, “Global Environment Challenges; Risks and Opportunities.”
It has in attendance the Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Mr Boss Mustapha, Honourable Minister of State for Environment; Barr Sharon Ikeazor, Chairman, House Committe on Environment and Habitat, House of Representatives; Hon Johnny Ohhuma, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs; Senator Ita Enang, among others.
The Governor who is represented by his Chief of Staff; Akparawa Ephraim Inyang -Eyen, in his welcome address, applauded NES for choosing Akwa Ibom State, described as the most peaceful in the Country, as the venue for the event.
He noted that theme of the conference was in line with his administration’s determination of implementing decisive climate actions.
The Governor called for collaboration to achieve sustainable and resilient environment with reduced carbon footprints to mitigate climate change impact.
“I’m interested in environmental development because without it, nothing meaningful would take place,” the Akwa Ibom leader stated.
