…admonishes Muslims to pray for the peace of the land.
The Eket Council Boss, Hon. Akaniyene Tommey Ikott has charged Muslims in Eket Local Government and beyond to use this Holy month of Ramadan to pray for God’s peace across the land of Eket Local Government and divine intervention of peace in Nigeria.
In a message of felicitation he personally signed, the Council Boss congratulated the Muslim ummah on the commencement of their Ramadan fast and prayers. Hon. Akaniyene Tommey also called on residents alike to use the solemn moment for sober reflections on the need to stay as one united people.
He charged the people to remain committed and focused in exploring opportunities that will engender growth and economic bouyancy while keeping faith and hope alive.
“Let us continue to explore vistas of meaningful opportunities to stay relevant in our community while we eschew all acts of divisiveness, and embrace love, unity, togetherness and the spirit of hard work to achieve our desired goals as individuals and as a society”
He went on that dwellers of Eket should eschew primordial ethnic and religious sentiments while encouraging all to stay in peace with one another.
The statement reads in full;
To all our Muslim brothers and sisters world over and in Eket Local Government Area in particular, may Allah afford us the reason to keep faith and hope alive.
As you begin your fasting and prayers today, this calls for solemn moments where we must have to consider the interest of our togetherness and continue to pray even for the peace of our land as well as wisdom unto our leaders to lead well.
Let us continue to explore vistas of meaningful opportunities to stay relevant in our community while we eschew all acts of divisiveness, and embrace love, unity, togetherness and the spirit of hard work to achieve our goals as individuals and as a society.
On behalf of my family and the entire people of Eket Local Government Area, we wish you all a very rewarding Ramadan Mubarak.
