In a significant event yesterday Senator-elect for Akwa Ibom South, Dr. Ekong Sampson, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Eket Roundabout. The honorable occasion was graced by His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, who performed the inaugural duties. This momentous event also included the unveiling of a life-size sculpture commemorating the Late Brigadier General U.J. Esuene, a highly esteemed figure and former Military Governor of the erstwhile South Eastern State. The roundabout was named in honor of Esuene, an influential son of Ekid.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Mrs. Helen Esuene, the wife of Brigadier General U.J. Esuene, who later represented Akwa Ibom South as Senator. This auspicious gathering exemplified the community’s deep respect for its historical and prominent figures.

Following the inauguration at the Eket Roundabout, Onomkpoinam Mkpat Enin, accompanied by fellow residents of the Eket Senatorial District, proceeded to the Eket Township Stadium. They organized a civic reception and a heartfelt expression of gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel and his wife, Martha. This gesture aimed to acknowledge the significant contributions and achievements of the governor and his spouse in service to the community.

Concluding his day in Eket, Senator-elect Dr. Ekong Sampson further extended his presence and support by attending the 50th birthday celebration of Chief Iniobong Idem. The event, held at the Spinel Events Centre on 140 Idua Road, commemorated the Director-General of PDP Campaigns in Eket. This birthday celebration provided an opportunity for community members to honor and appreciate Chief Iniobong Idem’s commitment to the growth and progress of the region.

Overall, the series of events attended by Senator-elect Dr. Ekong Sampson in Eket underscored the community’s unity, appreciation for its notable personalities, and commitment to acknowledging the achievements of its leaders.
