

In a significant development, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, welcomed the Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA) under the leadership of Chancellor Mr. Utitofon Ukpong. NUJ Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, expressed congratulations to COOPA members for their successful 2023 Conference/Election in Eket. Acknowledging the rise of digital media, Etuk emphasized the need for unity between traditional and online journalism.
He highlighted past efforts to bridge the gap between traditional and social media, promoting a harmonious approach. Etuk assured COOPA of NUJ’s unwavering support and encouraged the new COOPA Chancellor to focus on member training and international collaboration.
Chancellor Ukpong called for a cooperative relationship, emphasizing capacity development and member protection. He also advocated for the reinstatement of the ‘Online Publisher of the Year Award’ in NUJ Press Week Awards, aiming to foster a sense of belonging among journalists affiliated with both organizations.


The event concluded with prayers for the success of the new COOPA Executive, marking a promising step toward enhanced journalistic collaboration and growth.
