

Amidst the backdrop of his steadfast commitment to the Back-to-Farm Initiative and his labor-friendly approach, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State unveiled a series of initiatives during the 2024 Workers Day Celebration earlier today. The occasion witnessed a slew of announcements aimed at enhancing the welfare of the state’s workforce.
Firstly, Governor Umo Eno declared the 1st and 3rd Fridays of every month as designated farm days for workers across the state, aligning with his vision to promote agricultural activities and foster self-sufficiency.










In a move aimed at addressing the financial concerns of retired workers, the governor disclosed the allocation of an additional N2 billion Naira specifically earmarked for the payment of gratuities.

Furthermore, Governor Umo Eno outlined plans for the imminent recruitment of medical professionals into the State Civil Service, a strategic endeavor to bolster healthcare infrastructure and services within the region.


In a gesture of appreciation towards labor leaders, the governor presented two brand new utility vehicles to the distinguished representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), symbolizing his administration’s commitment to collaborative engagement and mutual respect between the government and labor unions.

Governor Umo Eno’s proactive measures underscore his unwavering dedication to prioritizing the welfare and interests of the workforce, thereby fostering a conducive environment for sustainable development and prosperity in Akwa Ibom State.
