The community of Ikot Nkwo in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area is abuzz with anticipation as Governor Umo Eno arrives today to inaugurate the newly built Model Primary Health Centre. This state-of-the-art facility, initiated in August as part of Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda, marks a significant advancement in primary health care delivery in Nigeria.

Elder Obong Ibanga Etukudo, in an interview, expressed the community’s excitement, noting that this is the first government project in Ikot Nkwo since the state’s creation. “This place was a forest and it seemed it would never be useful for anything, but today, we are happy that the governor has built a health center for us,” he said.
The project was conceived after Governor Eno visited a makeshift health clinic at the Village Council Hall and subsequently initiated the construction of a model clinic meeting World Health Organization standards.

The modern health center boasts a comprehensive range of facilities, including maternity and immunization sections, a nutrition section, delivery rooms, and both male and female wards. It also features an antenatal clinic, doctors’ consulting rooms, a minor procedure room, an emergency unit, and accommodations for doctors, nurses, and community health extension workers, along with a space for food demonstrations.

The inauguration is scheduled for noon today at the healthcare facility in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA.
