In a significant step towards local development, Mkpisong Frank Archibong, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, inaugurated a newly constructed Marriage Registry in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area on Friday, May 24, 2024. This initiative aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s Arise Agenda, aimed at fostering progress and performance among Local Government Transition Chairmen.
The project, completed within just over three months, was spearheaded by Mr. John Clenton, the local government chairman. Archibong commended Clenton for his swift and effective execution, highlighting not only the registry but also Clenton’s efforts in cultivating 60 hectares of land to enhance food sufficiency in the area. “Congratulations Chairman, your scorecard has been verified, and your achievements are commendable,” Archibong stated.

The Commissioner called on royal fathers and community stakeholders to support the Arise Agenda and encourage the participation of women and residents of Ikot Ekpene.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Senator Ibok Essien, Engineer Etido Inyang, Hon. Unyime, various royal fathers, party leaders, and representatives from women and youth groups.
