UNDERCOVER MOVES UNVEILED: SECRET DEALINGS BETWEEN I ENOUGH LEADERS, CHINESE COMPANY, AND AKWA IBOM COMMISSIONER FOR LANDS

In a surprising turn of events, clandestine dealings have come to light involving Opolopum Etteh and the Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Lands, collaborating with a Chinese company to forcefully relocate trucks from Eket. Reports suggest that the leaders of Ibeno, in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Lands, have orchestrated a covert plan with the Chinese Company to enter Eket and forcibly move the impounded trucks away from the Local Government Secretariat.

What makes this revelation even more astonishing is that these maneuvers have allegedly taken place without the knowledge of the governor. This covert operation has raised concerns and calls for heightened vigilance among the Ekid community.

As this intricate web of secrecy continues to unravel, the people of Ekid are urged to stay vigilant, as behind-the-scenes activities threaten the harmony of their community. Stay tuned as the story develops, revealing the truth behind these covert actions.

Ekid communities in Eket and Esit Eket local government areas of Akwa Ibom state have taken a stand against the Chinese firm, Ruitai Mining Ltd, accusing them of engaging in illegal mining activities. The communities, represented by the Ekid Peoples Union (EPU), assert that the firm has been unlawfully extracting the mineral resource, limonite, from their lands in the Stubbs Creek Forest Reserve, also known as Akoiyak Ekid.

Samuel Udonsak EPU President-General,

…the community demanded the immediate cessation of these activities and insisted on adherence to the law.

In a significant feature news development, members of the Ekid People in Eket and Esit Eket local government areas of Akwa Ibom state have issued a quit notice to Ruitai Mining Ltd, a Chinese mining company.

The Ekid Peoples Union (EPU) accused the firm of engaging in illegal mining of limonite, a mineral resource, on their lands situated within the Stubbs Creek Forest Reserve, also known as Akoiyak Ekid.

EPU’s President-General, Samuel Udonsak, revealed in a press conference that the Chinese company was conducting unauthorized mining activities at night, allegedly with support from certain state government officials.

Udonsak emphasized that this act not only violated Nigeria’s existing laws but also showed a complete disregard for the Ekid community’s rights.

According to the President-General of EPU, Samuel Udonsak, the Chinese company is conducting these operations at night with the support of certain state government officials. Udonsak emphasized that these activities are in violation of Nigerian laws and show a lack of respect for the Ekid community, as the firm did not seek their authorization or consent for the mining operations. He stated, “This illegal mining, usually carried out in the night and its product transported out of the state in trucks clandestinely is alleged to be actively encouraged by certain elements in government. As of today, neither the Chinese Company nor their agents in government has informed the community of this ongoing illegal activity. This action is in complete breach of extant laws.”

.,. a motley crew has now become a force to be reckoned with, embodying the values of responsibility, integrity, and credibility

In the dynamic realm of online content creation, the power to influence minds and shape opinions is both a privilege and a responsibility. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, so does the role of bloggers and online publishers. Thanks to the efforts of the Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA), this transformation has been nothing short of remarkable.

COOPA’s journey has been a testament to the metamorphosis of a disparate group of online warriors into a community of responsible and respected bloggers and publishers. The conference, under the visionary leadership of Chancellor Nsewo and his dedicated team, has successfully rebranded the perception of online content creators. What was once a motley crew has now become a force to be reckoned with, embodying the values of responsibility, integrity, and credibility.

A crucial aspect of this transformation lies in the mindful approach adopted by COOPA members when deciding what to post next. Mr. Ibanga Isine, a prominent voice in this community, emphasized the significance of considering the audience and the potential impact of the content. In his insightful address at #COOPA2023, he highlighted the need to minimize negative impacts while amplifying the positive ones. This thoughtful approach reflects the maturity and wisdom that now characterize the COOPA community.

The progress made by the Akwa Ibom State blogging community between 2015 and the present day is nothing short of inspiring. COOPA’s initiatives have not only elevated the standards of online publishing but also sparked a revival within the conference itself. Criticisms, once voiced, led to constructive change, prompting many members to pursue formal education in journalism and related media disciplines. This evolution is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of COOPA members, who have embraced growth and learning in their pursuit of excellence.

In his address, Mr. Ibanga Isine expressed his gratitude towards Chancellor Nsewo and his team for providing the visionary leadership that has propelled COOPA to its current stature. Acknowledging the collective effort and commitment of the community, he celebrated the conference’s achievements as a collective triumph—a story of transformation, collaboration, and unwavering dedication.

As COOPA continues to evolve, its journey serves as an inspiring narrative for online communities worldwide. By emphasizing responsibility, respect, and education, COOPA has set a benchmark for online publishers, reminding the digital world that ethical content creation is not just a choice but an obligation—one that can shape societies and inspire positive change.

Chairman NUJ FCT Correspondents’ Chapel Speaks at National Human Rights Commission Media Parley

Greetings from NUJ FCT Correspondents’ Chapel! I’m honored to join this meeting where we discuss crucial issues impacting people across our nation.

Kudos to the Human Rights Commission for this commendable initiative. I consider it a “Master Class,” a deep intellectual engagement that is here to stay.

Denying people their human rights questions their very humanity. Human rights violations in Nigeria, primarily by the police force, have become rampant. The police, once a symbol of protection, now oppresses citizens and aids the powerful, eroding public trust.

Despite democratic progress, human rights violations persist due to a lack of accountability. Perpetrators roam free while victims suffer. We must protect the vulnerable, especially women and children, by using our platforms to amplify their voices in seeking justice.

In the realm of media, our role as a catalyst for social change is non-negotiable. A free and vibrant press is vital for democracy. Sadly, the media landscape in Nigeria has become hostile, stifling journalists’ ability to carry out their duties.

To the Executive Secretary, rest assured, we, the media, will be critical advocates, especially for the rights of vulnerable Nigerians. This dialogue is a shared conversation, not a one-sided discourse.

Relax and engage; fruitful deliberations await us.
